The Mothers went to the Alchemist's Scales and settled in to two rooms there. They briefly discussed their options and decided that they should seek for like-minded adventurers to aid them against the giants. Gaspode discussed several engagement options with the mages, hoping that they had a clairaudience spell to eavesdrop on the giants from the safety of Waterdeep. After searching their many tomes and scrolls, the mages reported that they only had the Clairvoyance spell (in an old book of Mandy Celestial), and since only Gaspode could read lips that plan wasn稚 going to work. Even learning Clairvoyance was not guaranteed to be successful.

Siosiann was sent off to the local druid grove to see if she could recruit some elves or mages to assist in their fight with the giants. Tettet the dwarf went to ask around amongst the dwarves of Waterdeep to see if there were skilled fighters available to help. Gaspode explored his own underworld connections. Jito and Fonesca tried to find a herbalist, hoping to obtain some hristo leaves so that the whole group could communicate mentally when they decided to assault or spy out the rift. Levi and Guthranka, meanwhile, went to pay their respects in the local shrine of Tyr.

While at the local grove to Silvanus, Siosiann met with a human druid and his friend, a ranger, who were interested in meeting with the Mothers to discuss their offer. Tettet found a noble from Citadel Adbar who was accompanied by his brother and a priest of Moradin. They had fought giants before and were curious about the group who had brought a party of dwarves to safety. Jito and Fonesca obtained seven more hristo leaves. Gaspode thought that his contacts might turn someone up over the next couple of days. Levi and Guthranka found no helpers in the Tyrran shrine, but were happy with their trip nonetheless. The next day the three dwarves and the duo from the druid shrine met the Mothers in the inn and discussed their aims and terms. They were acceptable to all, except that the dwarves would not take a retainer for their presence. The twelve then sat down to discuss their strategy for ousting the frost giants from their rift.
